Environmental Issues Affecting the Real Estate Market
Course Synopsis: Student will gain overall understanding of the hazards associated with asbestos, lead-based paint and mold and microbial growth. They will be able to identify the situations when the potential hazards are present and be informed for the various options in dealing with regulations applicable to the real estate transaction and the best practices for addressing the problem. Student will learn key steps to providing meaningful advice and recommendations regarding environmental issues, avoiding potential litigation, while still looking out for the best interest of their clients. This course applies to 3 hours of Intermediate credit towards salesperson and broker continuing education from the Nebraska Real Estate Commission. Certificates of completion will be awarded at the end of the class.

Rick Yoder, PE SFP, works as the Sustainability Lead for the UNO College of Business Administration (CBA) and a business advisor for the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC). He focuses on culture change to improve energy efficiency, water conservation, material efficiency, indoor air quality, and building utilization.
Fees and registration: $995, BOMA members $1,095 non-members Registration fee includes the course and exam fee.
BOMI registration fee: A one time fee covers the three classes that are part of the High Performance Building Designation. $75, for those with BOMI designation; $175 for those without.
